How much does it cost to start?
The one-time startup fee is $198 + GST. You submit an application first, then we review it and send you a payment link. You pay whenever you are ready to proceed. Once payment is received, we run your background check and let you know the outcome. The fee includes your Canadian criminal record check, a soft credit inquiry, initial setup of your email, phone, and profile, plus your first month of access fees free.
What does the $198 cover?
The $198 + GST startup fee covers two things:
- Your Canadian criminal record check (including the soft credit inquiry)
- Your first month of access fees
It is not charged when you submit your application. Here is how it works: you submit your application, we review it, and we send you a payment link. You pay whenever you are ready to proceed. Once payment is received we run your background check, and we approve or decline your application based on the results.
Do I need travel experience?
No. You do not need previous travel industry experience. You do need curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the time to build relationships with clients. Your training and support start after onboarding.
Can I fit this around other commitments?
Yes. Many people start around family, work, or other commitments. You choose your schedule and pace, with no quotas, targets, or shifts.
How do I get paid?
On every booking, you keep 70% of the commission and GOwithHIPPO keeps 30%. Commissions land 30–90 days after your client travels, not when they book.
Is there a contract or quota?
No quotas, no targets, no shifts, and no long-term commitment. You can cancel any time with written notice.
Do I need to be in Canada?
Yes. GOwithHIPPO is a Canadian company and we are looking for Canadian agents across Canada, excluding Quebec. If you live in Ontario, you will need to register with TICO (the Travel Industry Council of Ontario) before selling travel. TICO charges its own registration and annual renewal fees, payable directly to TICO and not to GOwithHIPPO.
What is a host agency?
A host agency gives independent travel advisors the systems, supplier relationships, training, and operational support to run their own travel business.
